We were excited to head back to Maweni Village and see Baharini Primary School again, our family of amazing teachers, cooks, kids and LOVE. Read below to see the biggest news happening in the village and where your generous donations helped.
One of the dreams of Hope 4 Help and our Manager Mr. Kenneth from the very start was to start a Day High School. Most often children would have to travel to boarding schools away from their families and at a higher cost than most families could afford. So simply, most children would not go to secondary school.
THAT HAS CHANGED!

THAT HAS CHANGED!
We now have DAY High School in the village just about to get its government registration which means the government will support it, but it won't be enough. With the funds we've raised, money was given to build the toilets and for the new textbooks. Thank you!

Instead of rice & beans, the children now receive maize (corn) & beans. It's just as filling and more cost effective in today's world. The children still bring their own containers, and the parents are now responsible for the cooking oil, salt, firewood and payment of one cook.

Our little corner of the world is made up of dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in their world. The SILC Treasure Gate Academy is made up of 65 students and 6 teachers who often go unpaid but still show up everyday. They are just trying to raise up their community. Your donations paid for a month's salary for the teachers of this lower income community school and textbooks for one class. We are happy to support the dreams of even more children because of your generousity.
Too often humans take a piece of the world and forget to give back. Our mission is to encourage humans to think of others, AND the world around them. To begin designing this movement, you as customers are getting a piece of the world that we have given a second chance through ART, and we are then making sure to give a greater piece back. This piece will be represented by planting trees, removing garbage or donating to Hope 4 Help...and YOU get to choose what PIECE we give back
Miia, Ruby and Kati are the designers behind World Piece, and are excited to bring their individual talents to the table. Kati is the digital art designer and photographer who can create any custom piece. Ruby puts her own spin on Tic Tac Toe and helps keep the trio running behind the scenes, while Miia - the mastermind behind it all - has honed her talent for wood burning and decided it was time to give back by creating ART that gives BACK.
Go to @worldpiecedesigns and DM them with any custom requests for charcuterie boards, plaques, portraits, ornaments or keychains....and so much more and give back to Hope 4 Help with your support.
It's that easy!
Local Elora residents Nancy Harper and Doog Farquhar have supported "Hope 4 Help" for many years with their creative trivia nights. Then they visualized an All Day Music Festival highlighting local bands from the Elora/Guelph area all to support Hope 4 Help...and The Fork in the Road Festival 2018 was born! With the idea that in life we all come to a "fork in the road" where we can choose two different paths to take in life, choosing the path to help and be kind always leads you in the right direction. In 2019 their kindness continued with ticket sales supporting Mental Health for Youth through the Cody Shepperd Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington. "Hope 4 Help" was still be there, manning the Wine Bar with Sports Somm Matthew Cauz from TSN & Raffle for Complimentary Travel Passes from Porter Airlines.
We want to thank all the bands that are participating in the 2nd Annual Fork In The Road Festival - we love your SPIRIT!
We had over 46 people enter to try to become the Fork in the Road's ULTIMATE WINE SURVIVOR! Many people bought back in and competition got FIERCE! But in the end SHEA TOUGH was the Ultimate Survivor! Shea is special to Hope 4 Help's story, as she was our inaugural volunteer on the ground in Kenya...coming in 2014 to Baharini Primary School to work with our school nurse and help build fencing for the greenhouse. All this wine will help her get through her tough exams as she currently studies to become a Doctor at Western University.
Amy & Kristy - Founders of "Hope 4 Help" also have a side happyness....keeping the world flying happy as Flight Attendants at Porter Airlines. Porter generously donated two complimentary passes to fly anywhere Porter Travels and GWEN PATCHETT was our winner!. CONGRATULATIONS GWEN! Thank you for always supporting us and the Kids in Kenya!
